Vasilios Kanakaris is the CAS Lead at The Hechtman Group, where he works closely with business owners to provide financial clarity through clean books and accurate financial statements. He is also passionate about improving internal accounting processes to create greater efficiency and transparency.
A native of Arlington Heights, IL, Vasilios attended Harper College and Elmhurst College before beginning his professional career. Prior to joining THG, he worked at Dugan & Lopatka and also ran his own bookkeeping practice on the side—an experience that deepened his appreciation for helping clients stay on top of their finances.

When working with clients, Vasilios strives to make them feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their financial position. He takes care to explain accounting in a way that business owners can understand, ensuring they feel supported by a trusted advisor who genuinely cares.
Outside of work, Vasilios enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and pursuing his hobbies – playing professional paintball and playing disc gold with his friends. His favorite travel destinations include Greece—where his family is from, and where he enjoys the culture and beaches—and Montreal, where he values both family connections and vibrant culture.
