A Certified Public Accountant, Emily Mortimer considers accounting “fun.” She views it as a financial puzzle, where fitting all the pieces together results in positive outcomes that support her client’s business and individual tax goals.

 

She joined The Hechtman Group in 2023 as a Tax Supervisor, a role tailored to guiding clients through tax compliance and planning intricacies. Emily is a motivated team player and hopes to advance in her position to become involved with the firm’s CFO and controller outsourcing services.

 

A native of Illinois, Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Elmhurst College. After passing the CPA exam, she began her career at RSM, specializing in assurance, tax, and consulting services with a specializing in servicing high-net-worth clients. She steadily progressed, serving as a senior accountant and finance manager for various companies, including one that named its conference rooms after Harry Potter.

 

One of Emily’s primary objectives is to build strong relationships with her clients, fostering trust and confidence in her ability to execute tax returns meticulously to maximize the end number. She is thrilled to be a part of The Hechtman Group team, which she describes as fun and compassionate, in a professional environment that encourages growth.

 

Outside of her accounting pursuits, Emily enjoys traveling, skiing, and strolling along the shores of Lake Michigan. She is an avid reader, passionate about music, and enjoys dining out at Twin Anchors, one of Chicago’s oldest restaurants, celebrated for its mouthwatering BBQ spareribs.
