Carlos Velez joined The Hechtman Group family in 2022 as a tax supervisor, where he provides personalized service to clients to establish annual financial goals that lead up to the preparation of their tax return.
A native of New York City, Carlos understands that tax returns are the cumulative result of focused financial efforts throughout the year. It requires a constant understanding of the ever-changing tax laws at both state and federal levels. He gains satisfaction from finalizing a perfect tax return that reconciles to the client’s books.
Carlos graduated with an MBA and bachelor’s in accounting from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). He also earned the privilege of becoming an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA). Following school, he went on to work for Summit Properties Investments and Empire Tax USA, preparing both corporate and individual tax returns.
Carlos’ work emphasis is relationship building. He understands the importance of building the trust of his clients, and does so by getting to know them as a client and as a person, the same traits of The Hechtman Group which Carlos describes as “experienced, loyal, and hardworking.” His goal is to strengthen each client’s financial health with a focused strategy that fits their specific needs.
Outside of the office Carlos enjoys playing video games as well as outdoor sports. He would like to travel to England to watch professional soccer as well as to attend a European football game. His advice? Never quit. Continue going as the only person that will stop you is yourself.
